Students and Teachers

We currently have 830 students of different social backgrounds who mainly live in the area around Bethlehem. Nearly ten percent of our students live outside of the West Bank, in East Jerusalem or in small Palestinian enclaves. On their way to school they have to pass military checkpoints every morning. 50 percent of our students are girls. As our school is a place where boys and girls learn side by side, this development confirms our co-educative direction. 62 percent of our students are Christians, 38 percent Muslims. Due to the demographic development and continuing emigration of Christians from the region, the number of Muslim students is growing.

Many of Talitha Kumi's former students are now doctors, teachers, architects, or engineers. On the Second Advent many alumni come together every year for a special meeting that is organized by the „Association of friends and alumni of Talitha Kumi“.

We don't only want to impart knowledge at our school. We also put a lot of emphasis on the emotional, ethical and social development of our students.

Almost all of our teachers are Palestinian. Besides teachers, Talitha Kumi employs kitchen and cleaning personnel, cooks, janitors, kindergarten teachers, people who work in the guest house and in administration, as well as volunteers.
