Environmental Education
We at Talitha Kumi want to motivate our students to treat nature respectfully. We encourage them to take responsibility for their immediate environment and for their natural surroundings. Special programs convey how to keep the environment clean and healthy – using simple steps and techniques. Everyone can become a member of the club. Each class elects two representatives to join the club. The two students are also responsible for sharing their knowledge on environmental care with the others and for making sure classrooms and the schoolyard stay clean. We organize special activities such as planting new plants, cleaning up places, or experimenting with paper and glass recycling techniques which we hope help create a more beautiful Palestine.
Once a year, students from ten different schools in Palestine participate in a competition. They work on a special topic related to nature using writing, drawing, painting or photography. During two hours they immerse themselves in our woods, the garden or the animal habitat and let nature inspire their creativity!
The Environmental Education Center of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan & the Holy Land (ELCJHL) is situated on Talitha Kumi's premises.
