Art education

Art is an important part of our culture and an expression of our reactions to the realities of daily life. More than many other subjects, art education reveals the personalities of our students. Occasionally we encounter students with unique artistic abilities who use art to process their experience and to express their opinions. To encourage these students to develop their talents, we offer a yearly workshop with local artists. Additionally, these talented students have the opportunity to work together with recognized artists to acquire new techniques and improve their skills on a weekly basis.

There is a study group for artistically inclined students which meets every Friday and is led by Palestinian artist and art educator Taleb Dweik. 20 students at junior high school level attend the gatherings free of charge. The main focus is on painting. They discuss topics such as art history, color composition, painting techniques, taste in art and personal creativity. Every meeting has a special theme that is realized using colors, cardboard, copper, sand paper, plastic, and/or canvas.
